Come ogni anno i Critics Choice Awards segnano l’inizio di una stagione dei premi capace di riservarci sempre incredibili sorprese.
Più che dal lato cinematografico, con titoli spesso anticipati dai grandi festival che si svolgono durante l’annata cinematografica in giro per il mondo, la vera sfida risulta essere sempre il fronte televisivo.
Anche in questa edizione 2023, la magia si ripete con candidature che propongono una perfetta mescolanza di generi e storie. Parliamo, infatti, dei premi annualmente assegnati dalla critica americana a tutti i prodotti audiovisivi più meritevoli.
L’incredibile (ma non inaspettata) sorpresa ‘Andor’
Oltre ai prevedibilissimi Better Call Saul, Euphoria e The Crown, il vero colpo di scena ai Critics Choice Awards nella categoria miglior serie drammatica è sicuramente Andor. La prima stagione del serial Star Wars scritto da Tony Gilroy è riuscito nell’ardua impresa di conquistare ben due candidature in categorie regine (miglior serie drammatica, miglior attore protagonista per Diego Luna).
Nonostante Andor abbia segnato i più bassi ascolti nelle serie LucasFilm attualmente pubblicate, qualitativamente è stata quella maggiormente apprezzata dalla critica per la sua capacità di esplorare al meglio qualcosa di mai raccontato nella storia di Star Wars: lo squallore dei popoli sottoposti all’Impero e gli esordi della ribellione.
Tra trame politiche e racconto sociale, Andor è riuscita a conquistare sia la critica che il pubblico di fan appassionati aperti ad un cambiamento.
La ‘delusione’ The Boys e Rings of Power
Nonostante in molti l’avessero previsto colpisce anche la presenza nella cinquina di miglior attore in una serie drammatica di Anthony Starr, candidato per il suo ruolo di Patriota in The Boys.
Nonostante la serie non abbia ricevuto nomination di alcun tipo, pare che la performance dell’attore, la sua irriverenza e il suo carisma abbiano convinto i giornalisti.
Ultimo grandissimo e imprevedibile risvolto ai Critics Choice Awards è stata la presenza di Ismael Cruz Córdova nella categoria miglior attore non protagonista per il suo lavoro fatto nell’interpretazione dell’elfo silvano Arondir in Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power.
Parliamo dell’unica candidatura della serie, segnando un inizio di stagione dei premi abbastanza negativo per una serie che puntava principalmente ad ottenere un largo consenso da parte della critica.
Pare che, nonostante le buonissime intenzioni e i buoni presupposti, il prodotto non abbia saputo conquistare abbastanza.
