Sul servizio Nintendo Switch Online c’è la possibilità di acquistare due voucher al costo di 99 euro, da usare poi per acquistare i giochi della console che rientrano nel catalogo, ma essi non potranno essere usati per comprare i giochi esclusivi per Nintendo Switch 2. A rivelarlo è il colosso di Tokyo in una nota a margine nelle pagine web dedicate ai voucher: “I voucher per giochi Nintendo Switch non possono essere utilizzati per ottenere titoli esclusivi per Nintendo Switch 2“.

La scelta è probabilmente giustificata dal fatto che con l’arrivo della nuova console, sarà introdotto un nuovo tipo di voucher, anche se la cosa è strana visto che le due console dovrebbero avere comunque un’infrastruttura online pressoché identica. I giocatori non potranno quindi usare i voucher della prima Switch per acquistare Mario Kart 9, ma potranno usarli per i titoli cross-gen, tra i quali potrebbe figurare Metroid Prime 4.
Il catalogo di giochi che si possono acquistare con i voucher di Switch includono infatti molti titoli first, second e third party, in cui vengono aggiunti anche quelli recenti o di prossima uscita. Infatti nella lista è già presente Xenoblade Chronicles X sebbene esca tra più di un mese. Di eguito la lista completa:
